This Sin

Is this sin a feeling within
Is it truth or dare
To know yourself
To know that sultry stare

Will you be cast out
Among the low and degraded
When everything you had given
Was your all that was elated

Do you know who you are
Or where your boundaries once lay
Are you willing to give in
Before night turns to day

Have you gazed at the aura
Under the spell of a soft sashay
Of pear-shaped hips so perfect
Upon where you’ve seen the gentle sway

Does your chest catch your breath
From seeing curves expertly sloped
Does the flesh of the back amaze
Even more than you once hoped

Is it alright to feel
Supple skin lovingly cared for
Embracing each tiny sinew
Needing not just now but more

Are you emboldened by a smile
Shy cheeks dimpled gently
Is there anything less than light
Behind dark eyes raised intently

Can you imagine a reason
For which to deny your certainty
Should you leave these questions unanswered
Or embrace all with breathless temerity

Fearful

So much fear
Lurking darkly in the soul
Strength always was present
yet could not have shone through.

One look was only needed
To quell silent questions
When pain slowly crept in
and burrowed in so deep.

Each night, despair gave itself life
Each day was scarcely lived
Clouded memories barely lasted
yet fear is remembered years later.

There was no truth,
Only perpetuations of variance
Honor knew nothing of that life
and the spirit died each day.

Life was stolen in that time
Comfort no longer had a home
Security fell away to the dark
yet hope tried to survive.

War was fought within the self
Questioned how much can one stand
Rumblings of panic flooded quickly
and clarity burned through all.

There could be no great death
This was not a life lived freely
Facades crumbled to earthen cinders
yet time still needed to prevail.

Years later, the air breathes
Eyes bespeak freedom gained
Wastes of fear long gave way
and each dawn starts anew.

In a Lifetime

Gone now
though never ever there
But there it was in one moment,
Naked feet walking in dewy grass.

Warmth in the sky
Heat everywhere and yet nowhere
But there were the smiles,
The blinding light of the lips could last forever.

There is no pulse, no breath
No minutes or day
But there was a lifetime once,
Lived only by the nights of last.

Now past never revisits
Scenes played out but never lived
But sorrow lost its home,
Contentment presses in eager to shine.
